The PLANET GSD-603F Gigabit Ethernet Switch, featuring 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports and 1 SFP port, provides gigabit fiber last-mile connectivity and non-blocking wire-speed performance for various applications requiring long-distance data transmission. This metal switch can be easily placed on a desktop or in a cabinet to make network deployment as convenient as possible.

The GSD-603F serves as a high-performance CPE device for FTTx solutions. With support for one mini-GBIC 1000BASE-SX/LX SFP (Small-Form Factor Pluggable) interface, the deployment distance of the GSD-603F can be extended from 550 meters (via multimode fiber) to 10/20/30/40/50/70/120 kilometers (with single-mode fiber). Therefore, creating FTTH (Fiber to the Home), FTTC (Fiber to the Curb) solutions for ISPs or FTTB (Fiber to the Building) networks for enterprises becomes very convenient when long-distance deployment is used. The GSD-603F can process an extremely large amount of data in a secure topology connected to a metro switch, backbone, or high-capacity server.

The GSD-603F incorporates technologies that can save up to 40% energy compared to a standard switch without compromising performance. The GSD-603F combines two advanced Green Networking technologies:
■ Low Power Idle Mode for energy saving
■ Intelligent Scales Power based on cable length

With the Low Power Idle Mode feature, the GSD-603F applies IEEE-compliant power-saving when a specific port is not connected, automatically reducing power according to the IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) standard. The GSD-603F will automatically adjust power usage for ports that are either turned off or not connected to a network device. The other green technology, Intelligent Scales Power, adopts a smart algorithm that actively determines the appropriate power level based on cable length. When connecting to the GSD-603F with an Ethernet cable shorter than 20 meters, the GSD-603F automatically detects the length of the Ethernet cable and reduces power usage, allowing a device to achieve maximum energy savings. The connected device can significantly reduce overall power consumption, contributing greatly to energy efficiency.

The GSD-603F, with a 12Gbps internal switching fabric and 9K jumbo frame capability, can handle an extremely large amount of data in a secure topology connected to a backbone or high-capacity server. The GSD-603F provides a 2K MAC address table and 1.5Mbit buffer. It delivers wire-speed packet forwarding performance without packet loss risk. The high data throughput makes the device ideal for most Gigabit environments, especially for upgrading networks to Gigabit speed.

Plug and Play
All RJ45 copper interfaces on the GSD-603F support 10/100/1000Mbps auto-negotiation for optimal speed detection via RJ45 Category 6, 5, or 5e cabling. Standard Auto MDI/MDI-X is supported, allowing the device to detect the type of connection to any Ethernet device without requiring special straight-through or crossover cables.
