As an 8-port Gigabit Ethernet PoE PD Switch, PLANET GSD-803PD offers a convenient and cost-effective 802.3af/at PoE power injector solution. Unlike previous versions in the PLANET SOHO switch family which required DC power adapters, the GSD-803PD is specifically designed for home networks, SOHOs, and enterprises, providing energy-saving and Gigabit performance.
Design
The GSD-803PD features a new engine with two advanced green networking technologies:
Power saving mode when idle
Intelligent power scaling based on cable length
The GSD-803PD’s idle mode power saving works in compliance with the IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) standard, automatically reducing power on unused ports. The Intelligent Scale Power technology actively monitors power requirements and adjusts based on cable length. When connected with a cable shorter than 20m, the device achieves maximum energy savings as it detects the Ethernet cable length and reduces power usage. This significantly lowers the average power consumption of connected devices, delivering considerable energy savings.
EuP Compliant Power Control
To comply with the EU’s energy regulations (EuP), the GSD-803PD switch provides energy-saving power-off and standby modes via a switch on the rear panel. PLANET green networking switches help reduce energy consumption in homes and cut costs for businesses, supporting individuals in becoming more responsible global citizens.

High Performance
With a 16Gbps internal switching fabric, the GSD-803PD can handle extremely large amounts of data in a secure topology linking to the backbone or high-capacity servers. It provides an 8K MAC address table and 1Mbit buffer memory, delivering wire-speed packet transfer performance without the risk of packet loss. The high data throughput makes it ideal for Gigabit environments and system upgrades. With flow control, the GSD-803PD enables direct connections to routers and servers for fast and reliable data transmission. The Gigabit ports with 9K jumbo frame support provide secure, high-volume data transfer to backbone systems or powerful servers.
Plug & Play
All RJ-45 copper interfaces of the GSD-803PD support 10/100/1000Mbps auto-negotiation for optimal speed detection via RJ-45 CAT 6, 5, or 5e cables. It supports standard auto-MDI/MDI-X which detects connection types without requiring special straight-through or crossover cables.

Port 8 of the GSD-803PD offers a PoE PD power interface, allowing the switch to receive power from any 802.3af PoE PSE equipment.
