24-Port 10/100/1000Mbps with 4 Shared SFP + 4-Port 10G SFP+ Managed Switch
Cost-Effective Managed Switch Solutions with 10Gbps Uplink Capacity for SMBs
The XGSW-28040 is PLANET’s first Layer 2 IPv6/IPv4 managed Gigabit switch. With its built-in 4 10Gbps uplink slots, it perfectly supports SMB networks, enabling high-performance connectivity at cost-effective prices, achieving speeds up to 10Gbps. Typically, a 10GbE interface is provided alongside a Layer 3 switch; however, Layer 3 switches impose much higher costs for SMBs. The 4 10Gbps SFP+ interfaces in the XGSW-28040 are the same size as commonly used Gigabit SFP slots and serve as the standard for 10Gbps receivers. The XGSW-28040 can work with PLANET ENW-9800 dual 10Gbps SFP+ PCI Express Server Adapter series or third-party 10Gbps server adapters to provide 10Gbps Ethernet network connectivity for 10Gbps NAS (Network Attached Storage) or large-scale video streaming at an affordable cost. Each SFP+ slot supports dual-speed operation: 10GBase-SR/LR or 1000Base-SX/LX, allowing system administrators to configure SFP/SFP+ slots according to required signal speed or distance to maintain network quality and continuity.

IPv6 Managed Gigabit Switch Solutions for SMBs
With the proliferation of electronic devices and mobile devices connecting to the Internet, the demand for IP addresses has increased. However, the existing IPv4 network infrastructure cannot fully meet this level of user demand, prompting ISPs to adopt IPv6 network infrastructure. To address this demand, the PLANET XGSW-28040 IPv6 managed Gigabit Ethernet switch supports both IPv4 and IPv6 management functions. While maintaining compatibility with existing IPv4 networks, it also supports future-proof IPv6 networks. With a user-friendly, easy-to-use interface and numerous management functions, the XGSW-28040 is an ideal choice for ISPs providing IPv6 FTTX edge services and for SMBs connecting to IPv6 networks.
High Performance
The XGSW-28040 features 24 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet ports, 4 shared 100/1000X SFP slots, and 4 10G/1G SFP+ slots. Thanks to its high-performance switch architecture, it provides a non-blocking switch fabric and a throughput of up to 128Gbps, meeting the increasing bandwidth demands for LAN deployment and expansion.
Robust Layer 2 Features
The XGSW-28040 series supports programmable switch management functions such as dynamic port link, Q-in-Q VLAN, Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), Layer 2 to Layer 4 QoS, bandwidth control, and IGMP monitoring. The SGSW-24240 series supports 802.1Q tagged VLANs with a maximum of 255 VLAN groups. Port aggregation support enables multiple combined ports to create a high-speed working environment. The switch allows up to 8 ports and 14 groups for port link aggregation and provides fail-over support.
Excellent Traffic Control
The XGSW-28040 provides powerful traffic management and QoS features to enhance connectivity services for SMBs. QoS functions, such as Layer 4 traffic classification and bandwidth allocation, are particularly useful for multi-user units, multi-business units, Telco or VoIP services, uninterrupted video and audio streaming, or multicast used by network service providers.
Efficient Management Features
For efficient management, the XGSW-28040 series is a console-managed Ethernet switch equipped with WEB and SNMP interfaces. Its built-in web-based interface offers easy use, platform-independent management, and configuration options. The XGSW-28040 series supports standard network management protocols (SNMP) and can be managed via any SNMP-compliant software. For text-based management, access is available via Telnet and console ports. Additionally, the XGSW-28040 series supports SNMP v3 with per-session packet encryption, providing secure remote management access.

Effective Security
The XGSW-28040 provides comprehensive Access Control List (ACL) support to maximize security. Traffic can be classified based on source/destination IP addresses, source/destination MAC addresses, IP protocols, TCP/UDP, IP priority, and time intervals. The security mechanism also includes port-based 802.1x and MAC-based user and device authentication. The port security function effectively limits the number of customers or users. The built-in VLAN function protects communication between edge ports, enabling network administrators to quickly and efficiently deploy high-security corporate networks.
Extension and Flexibility Solutions
The XGSW-28040 includes 4 built-in mini-GBIC slots supporting 100Base-FX or 1000Base-SX/LX SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) fiber modules. Administrators can configure SFP transceivers not only based on signal type but also according to required transmission distance. Distances can be adjusted from 550m to 2km (multi-mode fiber) or 10/50/70/120km (single-mode fiber or WDM fiber), making it ideal for corporate data centers and extensions.

Excellent Core/Data Center Security and QoS Switch Solutions
The XGSW-28040 delivers 128Gbps throughput with a non-blocking switch fabric, providing high-bandwidth 10Gbps Ethernet connectivity for enterprise backbone networks. With its 4 built-in SFP+ ports, it supports uplinks to backbone networks via 10G Ethernet LR/SR SFP+ modules. The switch also enhances network efficiency while protecting users with security and QoS features.

High Scalability and Fiber Optic Performance
Through highly flexible fiber optic Ethernet technology, the XGSW-28040 offers scalable and easy deployment, providing data transfer speeds up to 10Gbps and transmission distances up to 10km via fiber interfaces. It is an ideal solution for SMBs for redundant connections and creating high-bandwidth server farms.
