Category 5 cable, or Cat 5 cable, is a type of UTP cable that transmits data at megabit speeds. Compared to Cat 6 cable, it provides lower data throughput and is more susceptible to external interference. However, it is an ideal standard for businesses that do not use heavy data traffic. Cat 5 can provide high performance up to 100MHz. For data flow to be of a certain quality, other components used in the system must also meet or exceed the Cat 5 standard, just like the cable.
