It adds a 1000BASE-X fiber Gigabit link to a server

A PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet adapter with an SFP slot for servers and workstations. It clears the distance limit of copper and links straight into a fiber backbone, carrying 2000 Mbps of full-duplex bandwidth. The SFP module in the slot sets the link distance.
