48-Port 10/100/1000Base-T + 4-Port 1000X SFP Managed Gigabit Switch
Telecom-Grade Gigabit Network Solutions for Enterprise Backbones and Data Centers
PLANET WGSW-52040 offers high-density performance and static Layer 3 routing as a Layer 2 managed Gigabit switch. With a 104Gbps switching capacity, the WGSW-52040 enables the transfer of extremely large amounts of data securely to enterprise backbone systems or high-capacity servers. Equipped with powerful WRR (Weighted Round Robin) and network security features, the WGSW-52040 effectively provides data traffic control, multicast, and video streaming capabilities for ISPs and corporate VoIP services.
Efficient IPv6 Support
In addition to supporting the IPv4 protocol, the WGSW-52040 offers IPv6 management features with company-grade security such as SSH, ACL, WRR, and RADIUS authentication. The WGSW-52040 also assists companies with low migration costs during the IPv6 transition process. Furthermore, when an IPv6 FTTx edge network is deployed, there is no need to replace network equipment.
High-Level Performance
The WGSW-52040 provides 48 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet ports along with 4 Gigabit SFP slots. Thanks to its high-performance switch architecture with a non-blocking switching structure and cabling, it delivers a performance of up to 104Gbps. Therefore, it can meet the increasing broadband demands in LAN distribution and development.
Robust Layer 2 Features
The WGSW-52040 supports programmable switch management functions such as port speed adjustment, port aggregation, VLAN, Spanning Tree Protocol, WRR, bandwidth control, and IGMP traffic monitoring. It supports 802.1Q tagged VLAN, Q-in-Q, voice VLAN, and GVRP protocols. VLAN groups on the WGSW-52040 can reach up to a maximum of 256. By supporting port aggregation, the WGSW-52040 provides high-speed trunking performance with multiple ports. It supports from 8 ports up to 32 groups of channels.
Excellent Traffic Control
The PLANET WGSW-52040 series is designed with powerful yet easy traffic management and WRR features, offered by telecom companies to enhance services. WRR supports cable-connected Layer 4 traffic classifiers and bandwidth allocation, which are especially useful for multi-user units, multi-business units, telcos, or network service providers running programs such as VoIP, uninterrupted video and voice streaming, or multicast. Its handy configuration wizard helps quickly and easily set typical network application rules via the web interface. Additionally, the WGSW-52040 series enhances companies' limited network resources and guarantees optimal performance in voice and video conferencing transmission.
Effective Security
The WGSW-52040 provides a comprehensive Access Control List (ACL) aimed at maximizing security. Traffic can be classified by source/destination IP addresses, source/destination MAC addresses, IP protocols, TCP/UDP, IP precedence, time intervals, and ToS. The product’s security mechanism also includes port-based 802.1x and MAC-based user and device authentication. The port security feature effectively limits the number of clients and users and includes RADIUS authentication, allowing network administrators to set up and manage highly secure corporate networks with less time and effort, thus easily ensuring port security and protection against unauthorized users.
Efficient Management Features
Supporting IP stacking, the WGSW-52040 assists network administrators to easily connect and configure up to 24 switches from the same series through a single IP address instead of connecting and configuring each one individually. For effective management, the WGSW-52040 Managed Gigabit Switch includes a console and WEB; SNMP management interfaces. Its built-in web-based management interface offers easy use, platform-independent management, and configuration. The WGSW-52040 supports Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and can be managed by any standard management software. For text-based management, the WGSW-52040 can be accessed via Telnet or console port. It also supports SSH connections, offering secure remote management and encrypting packet content in every transmission session.
Extension and Flexibility Solutions
The WGSW-52040 series includes 4 built-in mini-GBIC slots supporting 100Base-FX or 1000Base-SX/LX SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) fiber optic modules. Additionally, administrators can adjust the appropriate SFP transceiver not only for signal distance but also for signal quality. Distances can be set from 550m to 2km (with multi-mode fiber) or from 10/50/70/120 km (with single-mode fiber or WDM fiber). These configurations are ideal for corporate data centers and extensions.
Server Farm Switch
The WGSW-52040 supports up to 52 Gigabit Ethernet ports, making it suitable for companies and network servers. It is suitable for use as a farm switch connection for servers. Thanks to its port trunking feature, an 8GB wide data path can be provided for backbone when needed.

Enterprise Security and QoS Edge Switch
With IEEE 802.1x network access control, the WGSW-52040 offers MAC/IP/Protocol Access Control Lists and Port Security functions, allowing limitation of MAC addresses passing through specific ports. With IGMP monitoring and QoS features in the WGSW-52040, network efficiency improves, and the security of network clients is ensured.
