Premier Scalability
All SFP+ and SFP ports in the RG-S2910XS-E series are backward compatible with lower-level modules. PoE models compliant with 802.3af and 802.3at standards offer dual modular power supplies that support PoE+ across all downlink ports. With multiple expansion slots, the RG-S2910XS-E series can be scaled with various combinations of Gigabit fiber and copper ports for unmatched expansion flexibility.

Comprehensive Protection Policies
ARP viruses and attacks are common network threats with significant negative impacts. The RG-S2910XS-E series supports multiple ARP spoofing prevention modes. Whether users obtain addresses automatically via a DHCP server or use a fixed IP address, the switches can continue to record the actual user IP and MAC addresses. After ARP packets are received from the host, the packets are compared with the recorded IP and MAC addresses. Only validated ARP packets are forwarded, while malicious packets are discarded. The RG-S2910XS-E series fully protects network users from ARP spoofing attacks.
RG-S2910XS-E switches proactively defend against different DDOS attacks. Open networks are vulnerable to viruses, and network devices and servers are also exposed to malicious attacks from unauthorized users. All of these factors can affect normal network operation. Common issues include ARP flooding at the gateway causing chassis response errors, ICMP flooding overloading the network CPU, and DHCP flooding attacks resulting in address exhaustion and preventing users from obtaining valid IP addresses for normal access.
The RG-S2910XS-E switch series offers an industry-leading CPU Protection Policy (CPP). CPP technology categorizes traffic destined for the CPU into different packet flows and arranges them according to priority. Bandwidth rate limiting can also be applied. These features provide complete CPU protection against fraudulent traffic, malicious attacks, and bandwidth consumption by unauthorized sources.
Users can also leverage the Network Foundation Protection Policy (NFPP) on RG-S2910XS-E switches. NFPP technology can limit the number of packets users send (including ARP, ICMP, and DHCP packets). Any packets exceeding the threshold are discarded, and malicious traffic can even be isolated to guarantee absolute network availability.
The switches also support DHCP snooping, which allows DHCP responses only from trusted ports to prevent DHCP server spoofing. Based on DHCP protection, the switches can dynamically monitor ARP and verify user IP addresses. Packets inconsistent with the binding table are marked as spoofed and discarded. This feature prevents attacks such as ARP spoofing and user source IP address forgery.
Advanced Virtualization Technology
All RG-S2910XS-E models support Virtual Switch Unit (VSU) technology. This allows multiple physical devices to be interconnected and virtualized into a single logical unit. The logical device uses a single IP address, Telnet session, and Command Line Interface (CLI) while supporting automatic version checking and configuration. From the user’s perspective, there is only one device to manage, yet they can still benefit from the capabilities of multiple devices. Work efficiency and user experience are therefore significantly improved. VSU technology also provides numerous advantages:
● Easy management: Administrators can centrally manage all devices simultaneously, eliminating the need for individual configuration and management.
● Simplified topology: VSU is treated as a single switch within the network. With aggregation links and peripheral devices connected, there are no Layer 2 loops, making the MSTP protocol unnecessary. All protocols operate as if on a single switch.
● Millisecond-level failover: In case of a device or link failure, traffic is switched to another member link within 50 to 200 ms.
● Exceptional scalability: Devices can join or leave the virtualized network without affecting others, even during live operation.
● Investment protection: VSU connects to peripheral devices via aggregation links, providing both redundancy and load balancing. This maximizes utilization of all network devices and bandwidth resources. A VSU virtualized system can be easily built using any 10GE port and cable type, without requiring extra cables or expansion cards. The RG-S2910XS-E series delivers excellent investment protection for all Ruijie customers.
Carrier-Class Reliability
Spanning Tree Protocols 802.1D, 802.1w, and 802.1s ensure rapid convergence and enhance fault tolerance. These also ensure stable network operation and load balancing, optimizing network channel utilization and improving redundant link use.
The Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) can also be employed to enhance network stability.
Another feature ensuring stable network operation is the Rogue Location Discovery Protocol (RLDP), which quickly detects disconnections and unidirectional fiber links. It also prevents loop errors caused by hubs or other devices connected to ports.
Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) (G.8032) applies loop blocking and link recovery at the master node. Other devices directly report link states to the master without passing through standby nodes, resulting in faster loop failover and recovery than STP. Under ideal conditions, ERPS failover time can be completed within milliseconds.
When STP is disabled, basic link redundancy can still be maintained through the Rapid Ethernet Uplink Protection Protocol (REUP), which provides millisecond-level failover protection even faster than STP.
Software-Defined Networking (SDN)
The RG-S2910XS-E switch series fully supports OpenFlow 1.3. It can seamlessly integrate with Ruijie’s proprietary SDN controller to build large-scale Layer 2 frameworks. This feature enables smooth upgrades to SDN networks, greatly simplifying network management and minimizing deployment costs.
Energy Efficiency
Ruijie has devoted significant research efforts to addressing noise and power consumption issues found in traditional switches. The new RG-S2910XS-E switch series offers a complete solution by providing a quieter operating environment while reducing the heavy power consumption caused by large-scale device deployments.
RG-S2910XS-E switches adopt a next-generation hardware architecture with advanced energy-saving circuit design and component selection. They deliver over 40% overall power savings for maximum cost efficiency. Noise levels are also significantly reduced. All models in the series use axial-flow fans with adjustable speeds, enabling intelligent temperature control based on ambient conditions. This ensures stable operation while minimizing power consumption and noise.
In PoE power supply environments, the RG-S2910XS-E switches offer automatic, energy-saving, and static modes to handle diverse deployment challenges.
Automatic port shutdown mode is another key feature. When an interface remains inactive for a certain period, the system automatically disables it for improved energy efficiency. The switch series also supports the Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) feature. Idle ports are automatically placed into energy-saving mode, with the system periodically sending listening flows to the port. Services resume immediately upon receiving new traffic.
The RG-S2910XS-E series complies with the EU’s RoHS standards restricting the use of hazardous substances during manufacturing. The series also meets SJ/T 11363/11364/11365 standards.
Simple and Easy Network Maintenance
The RG-S2910XS-E switch series supports a wide range of features for routine diagnostics and maintenance, including SNMP V1/V2/V3, RMON, Syslog, SFLOW, logs, and USB-based configuration backups. Administrators can use multiple management methods for easier operations, including CLI, web management, Telnet, CWMP (TR069) zero-configuration, and more.
