The 10/100/1000M Ethernet Media Converter converts the Ethernet interface into a Fiber interface. It is compliant with IEEE802.3z and IEEE802.3ab standards. In addition, it supports two types of Media Network Connections: 10/100/1000Base-T and 1000Base-LX. The 10/100/1000Base-T signals over twisted pair cable are converted into 1000Base-LX fiber signals. With extended transmission distance support, the maximum 100-meter limitation of copper cable can be extended by using fiber optic cable. It supports single-mode single fiber data transmission.
• Provides data transmission and conversion between 10/100/1000Base-TX and 1000Base-LX
• Operates in full-duplex and half-duplex modes with auto-sensed feature
• Automatic crossover detection, activation, and setup for copper cable
• Extra-long VLAN packet support
• Quality of Service (QoS) support to ensure VoIP packet data transmission
• STP support for building redundant networks
Installation
• The network device (workstation, hub, or switch) is connected to the RJ45 port of the converter via a cable terminated with an RJ45 connector.
• Multi/single-mode fiber optic cable is connected to the SC/ST fiber interface.
• Then the device is switched to the “on” position.
Precautions
• This product is suitable for indoor applications.
• Fiber dust caps must be installed when not in use.
• Fiber data ports must never be looked at with the naked eye.
• Single optical fiber transceivers must be used in pairs.
