PLANET WGS3-5220 features a high-performance switch architecture that is capable of providing non-blocking switch fabric and wire-speed throughput of up to 17.6Gbps. Two built-in fiber uplink ports offer incredible expandability, flexibility, and connectivity to other core switches or servers.

PLANET WGS3-5220 is equipped with powerful traffic management and QoS features to enhance services provided by telecommunications. The functionality includes QoS features such as wire-speed Layer 4 traffic classifiers, bandwidth limitation, and Policy-based DiffServ, which are especially useful for multi-tenant units, multi-business units, Telcos, or Network Service Providers. It also ensures the best performance in VoIP and video conferencing transmissions by maximizing the advantages of limited network resources.
Robust Security
PLANET WGS3-5220 provides comprehensive Access Control List (ACL) to enforce security at the edge. The protective mechanisms consist of port-based 802.1x user and device authentication. Port security is effective in limiting the number of clients passing through. Flexible and Extendable Solution
Two mini-GBIC slots compatible with 1000Base-SX/LX and WDM SFP (Small Form-Factor Pluggable) fiber optic modules. The distance can be extended from 550 meters (Multi-Mode fiber) up to 10/50/70/120 kilometers (Single-Mode fiber or WDM fiber). These features are highly suitable for use in enterprise data centers and distributions.

With built-in web-based management, PLANET WGS3-5220 provides an easy-to-use, platform-independent management and configuration facility. The WGS3-5220 supports standard Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and can be managed via any standard-based management software. For text-based management, the WGS3-5220 can also be accessed via Telnet and console port. For secure remote management, the WGS3-5220 supports SSL and SSH connections that encrypt the packet content of each session.

The routing protocols can be applied with VLAN interfaces per port or up to 2K routing entries, offering scalability for high-density routing interfaces to meet the growing network requirements. In addition, the hot VLAN feature – Q-in-Q (VLAN stacking) support – allows service providers to offer specific services such as Internet access to specific VLANs for specific customers while still offering different types of services to other customers in other VLANs.

With 17.6 Gigabit per second non-blocking switch fabric, the WGS3-5220 can easily provide high bandwidth and a Gigabit Ethernet network locally for your department’s backbone.
