PLANET PoE-152 series IEEE 802.3af standard PoE injector provides 48V DC power through Ethernet cable. The PoE-152, compliant with IEEE 802.3af standard, can transfer data and power simultaneously over Cat5 cable between the injector (PoE-152) and Splitter (PoE-152S-5V/12V) up to 100 meters. With the installation of PoE-152, digital data and power combine via twisted pair cables over the IEEE 802.3af PoE injector, and the IEEE 802.3af PoE splitter separates this data and power into two distinct outputs.
In addition to power delivered over Ethernet, the PoE-152 also supports 1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet connectivity besides 10/100Mbps.
With the deployment of IEEE 802.3af PoE Ethernet devices, system administrators only need to use an RJ-45 Ethernet cable to carry both power and data to devices. Furthermore, connecting via PoE-152 and PoE-152S-5V/12V provides cost savings, easier network planning, and higher reliability. When connecting any IEEE 802.3af device with PoE-152 or PoE-152S-5V/12V, routing or separation of Ethernet digital packets and power is performed; for example, PoE-152 connects with IEEE 802.3af compliant devices such as APs and IP phones.
Connection to IEEE 802.3af Devices
Due to the capacity of IEEE 802.3af standard, PoE-152 can directly connect via Ethernet port to any IEEE 802.3af in-line power-supported wireless access points, IP phones, and internet cameras or any IEEE 802.3af compliant end-node.
IEEE 802.3af Injector and Splitter Installation
In locations where power input is difficult to find, using a pair of PoE-152 and PoE-152S-5V/12V is the easiest way to power Ethernet devices. For example, PLANET ICA-110, ceiling-mounted internet cameras, or WAP-4000 wireless Access Points can easily receive power needs via Ethernet. Similarly, the VIP-254PT IP phone can be used in offices and home areas in the same way.
