Connects a serial device to the 802.11b/g wireless network

A standalone wireless server that gathers RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 interfaces into one body. The 2.4 GHz radio, processor, TCP/IP stack, real-time clock and analog sensor interfaces all ship inside the module. It mounts on a DIN rail and fits mobile jobs such as asset tracking and GPS monitoring.

Technical detail

Wireless linkIt runs on 802.11b wireless LAN and stays compatible with 802.11g. Over-air rate reaches 1 – 11 Mbps for 802.11b and 6 – 54 Mbps for 802.11g.

Serial interfaceThe three-in-one serial port works as RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 and climbs to 57.6 kbps. The RS-232 end is a DB-9 male, the RS-485/422 end a 6-pin terminal block.

RadioDSSS modulation covers channels 1-14 with 5 MHz spacing. Receiver sensitivity is -85 dBm, output level +18 dBm, and the UFL connector takes at most 10 dBm RF input.

Network and securityIt works in TCP/IP, UDP/IP, HTTP, ARP and DHCP modes. WEP encryption uses 64-bit and 128-bit keys, while password protection and IP filtering narrow access. Ad-Hoc, Infrastructure and Pseudo IBSS modes are supported.

IndicatorsLINK, DIS, ACT and PWR lights report WLAN status, data flow and power. A virtual COM port setup runs on the Windows side.

Housing and environmentDIN-rail mounting, 1 mm iron enclosure, 0.5 kg weight and 100 mm x 86 mm x 26 mm dimensions. It operates from -40°C to 70°C.
